Does Uncle Sam Want You? Part 2

One of my most popular posts thus far has been about the first Vietnam draft lottery. But if you don't feel like rereading that post, I'll recap for you.


The first draft lottery was held on 01 December 1969. All young men between the ages of 18 and 26 (born between 1944 and 1950) were eligible. Each day of the year was put inside a little blue ball. Capsules were drawn out one by one, until all 366 dates had been called. In 1969, men who had one of the first 195 birthdays called out were to report for induction into the military.





The second draft lottery was held on 01 July 1970, for all young men born in 1951. This time, those born on the first 125 dates called were drafted. If a date is listed in the table below, a man born on that day in 1951 would have been inducted into the service.
